He was a member of the Czechoslovakian team at Italia 90, where he was sent off against Germany in the quarter-final in Milan.
Moravčík played for Saint-Étienne, Bastia and MSV Duisburg before moving to Scottish side Celtic in November 1998. Signed by fellow Slovakian Dr Jozef Vengloš for a fee of just £300,000, he became a hero in the eyes of the Parkhead faithful, forming an outstanding partnership with Henrik Larsson.
Moravčík is his country's most capped player, with a total of 79 appearances for Czechoslovakia and Slovakia. He is currently the coach of Slovak national U-17 team
